Originator of the Bauhaus Vorkurs (preliminary course), 1919–1923; after leaving Bauhaus directed the Ontos school, Berlin, then the Textilfachschule Krefeld (1932–1938), then the Kunstgewerbeschule and Kunstgewerbemuseum Zürich (1938–1954), and the Rietberg Museum, Zürich. No connection to HfG Ulm.
