Appadurai's term for both the distribution of the electronic capabilities to produce and disseminate information (newspapers, television, film, digital platforms) and the images of the world these media create. Mediascapes furnish large and complex repertoires of images and narratives from which scripts of imagined lives — and imagined communities — are assembled across the globe.
